A Cornish multi-academy trust which provides specialist education for pupils who can’t access mainstream schools due to medical or health needs is feeling that bit warmer and greener, thanks to Blue Flame.
The Wave Academy, which has locations in Bodmin, Truro, Redruth, Penzance, St. Austell and Liskeard as well as other areas throughout the county, contacted Blue Flame asking us to replace their outdated boiler and oil tank with a new system. After a thorough investigation by our engineers, we discovered that a lot of heat (and money) was going to waste!
We wanted to offer a solution that would not only provide more longevity for the school, but also help them to reduce their emissions and make the building more eco-friendly. With a little Blue Flame magic, we designed the school their very own bespoke heat pump system.
The state-of-the-art installation was paired with brand new, perfectly sized radiators which were installed throughout the building. To make this happen, we partnered with our trusted manufacturers, Stiebel Eltron and Jaga radiators. Together, they helped us tailor the system to Wave Academyâs unique heating and hot water needs.
To add to the challenge, the school needed the entire installation done before winter set in and before the students returned from the October half-term break.
With a highly skilled and motivated team, plus rock-solid support from our suppliers, we pulled out all the stops. By increasing personnel and working at full speed, we completed the entire installation within the tight deadline – just in time for students and staff to return to a warmer, greener and more energy-efficient school.

Now celebrating its 150th year, this installation brings the Wave Academy a long way from their humble beginnings where coal fires were the only source of warmth!
