**NOVEMBER 2020 UPDATE – Scheme Extended to March 2022 – Please see update information here**
As you may be aware the Governments new ‘Green Homes Grant Scheme’ is launching today (Wednesday 30th September 2020).
It is expected that many homeowners and landlords across the country will apply for the scheme that provides monetary vouchers towards the costs of installing energy-saving and renewable measures into their home. These measures include air and ground source heating, solar panels as well as insulation and window glazing. You may have to meet certain criteria to apply for the scheme and there are rules in place about what measures you can install.
You can find out more here
At Blue Flame, we are strong advocates of using renewable technologies for providing heating and hot water for your home. We have been installing these types of systems for over 12 years and have dedicated, skilled teams specifically for these installations. We are approved installers and service providers for several large renewable manufacturers such as Daikin, Mitsubishi and Stiebel Eltron. Our renewable team offer a fully managed installation from initial enquiry to registering the appliance and providing information and calculations for Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) applications.
If you are not aware, the Renewable Heat Incentive is a financial incentive programme that promotes the installation and ongoing use of renewable technologies for the provision of heating and hot water in your homes. Starting back in 2014, the scheme offers a payment, split over 7 years, for the energy you produce using your renewable technology. As both the RHI and the Green Homes Grant offer a financial contribution to your new renewable system, you are unable to have both. Any GHG payment would be deducted from RHI payments post-installation. Therefore, it is worth considering what is better for you – capital at the front end to pay for the installation? or 7 years of payments post-installation under the RHI?
We can hear you asking… “then why are you not taking part in the scheme”?
Although we meet all the criteria required to complete installations (TrustMark Approved and MCS accredited) and would enjoy nothing more than completing new renewable installations for you, it is simply a matter of limited capacity in our installation diary.
Under the rules of the scheme, all works must be completed, and voucher redeemed by 31st March 2021. Our teams are already incredibly busy over the coming months and with the projects already in progress and the customers are already committed to, we feel it unfair for us to take your enquiries if we cannot guarantee that we can complete the installation within the strict scheme time frames and meaning loss of the voucher contribution. Renewable installations are often large projects and we would hate for us not to give the project and importantly you, the time and consideration deserved.
